“I can’t do this,” Zoe said, shaking her head helplessly as her grip tightened on her seatbelt while she watched Trevor, looking incredibly handsome in his suit, walk around the truck to open her door as she prayed for a miracle. A few seconds later he reached her door and her shoulders slumped in defeat as she resigned herself to another night watching every woman within a twenty-foot radius coming onto her husband.
“You look beautiful, baby,” the incredibly handsome man that she loved more than anything, but was most likely going to have to maim to get out of this, said as he opened the door.
For a moment, she briefly considered faking her own death to get out of this, but since that hadn’t worked the last time she’d tried it she decided that it was time to offer him the one thing that was guaranteed to get her out of the night of pure hell awaiting her.
Sex.
Why was it so dark? Mikey couldn’t help but wonder with a groan as she tried to find the willpower to leave the comfort of her bed. It took several grumbles, a few muttered curses that would have immediately resulted in her spending the next month in her room if her mom heard her, but eventually she managed to shove the covers off.
It took a few more grumbles until she managed to sit up. Several minutes later, her feet touched the floor and she managed to stand up so that she could stumble her way to the bathroom that she shared with her brothers. Ten minutes later, five of which had been spent staring longingly back at her bed, she finished using the bathroom, brushed her hair and teeth, washed her face, changed into the Yankees tee shirt that Uncle Trevor had given her to replace her old Red Sox tee shirt that he’d incinerate, and peeked in on her brothers.
“This isn’t going to work,” Cole said, sighing heavily as he rubbed his hands down his face.
“Yes, it will,” Jonathan said, licking his lips nervously as he grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the windows and out of sight of the store manager that had been watching them for the past ten minutes.
“You’re making a big deal out of nothing,” Mikey said with a sigh as she plucked the money out of Cole’s hand, turned around and-
“It’s not too late,” Sebastian said even as he gave her a pitying look that had her eyes narrowing on her best friend as a thought occurred to her.
They were screwing with her.
Again.
“She’s not going to do it,” Sebastian said, not bothering to look up from the book that he’d helped himself to from her backpack while she tried to figure out why Cole and Jonathan were staring at her.
“You don’t know that,” Cole said as he gave her a hopeful smile that matched Jonathan’s.
“I really do,” Sebastian said, sounding bored as he reached over and helped himself to the PB&J sandwich that his mother made for her.
“Know what?” she asked, rolling her baseball between her hands as she sat there, trying to find the willpower to do her homework.
“We need a favor,” Jonathan said, which were normally the words that would have sent her running, but since she was trying to get out of doing her algebra homework or whatever it was that they were studying in math, she decided to see where this was going.
“I will kill you!” he heard his wife bite out through the door.
“This was for your own good!” he heard Sara snap as he took a moment to straighten his tie.
“I hate you!” his wife snapped back as he raised his hand to knock.
“That’s him!” Kasey hissed.
“I’m not going!”
“Yes, you are!”
“They don’t fit!”
“Yes, they do! Now stop bitching and answer the door!”
“What the hell is she doing?” Kasey asked Sara as the two of them stood there, shaking their heads in disgust while Zoe did her best to ignore them.
“Trying to piss us off,” Eric mumbled absently around a handful of popcorn as he shifted to get more comfortable on the bed next to her as she lay there trying to figure out why this movie looked so familiar.
“Am I allowed to watch this?” Jonathan asked from her other side.
“Probably not,” Eric said with a shrug while she watched as the creepy looking doll suddenly sat up, grabbed a knife, and-
“No, no you can’t!” she said, slapping a hand over her son’s eyes as she shot the bastard sitting next to her a glare.
“It’s edited for tv,” Eric said as he tossed a handful of popcorn in his mouth only to wince and mutter, “Okay, maybe it’s not.”
“Let me out!” the small woman that should have run when she had the chance said as she continued to pound on the pantry door.
“No,” he said even as he yanked the chair away from where he’d had it wedged beneath the doorknob and opened the door, needing to see with his own eyes that she was really unharmed. She opened her mouth to say something else, but he was already shutting the door and shoving the chair back in place to keep her from getting herself in more trouble.
“We need to leave, Trace,” she said, sounding frustrated as he stood there, taking in the destruction surrounding him and-
“Thank y-oh, come on!”his wife said with an exasperated sigh when he opened the door only to immediately shut it again after he ran his eyes over her one more time.
“What if she says no?”
“Why would she say no?” Trevor asked his son as he stood in front of the closet door mirror, trying to get his tie right.
“That’s what I was wondering,” his son’s partner-in-crime asked from where she laid on her bed, rolling a baseball between her hands.
“Because she loves me,” he said with a sigh when he was forced to pull his tie free and try again.
“I thought she lost a bet?” Mikey asked, sending Sebastian a questioning look.
“I don’t wanna go,” Zoe mumbled into the couch cushion with a forlorn sigh that she felt didn’t convey just how much she didn’t want to go so she followed it up with a louder, longer drawn out sigh.
“What time are you supposed to be there?” Haley asked from the comfortable leather chair where she was devouring another bowl of brownie batter.
“Now,” she said with a pathetic whimper as she laid, trying to find the motivation to go only to decide that nothing was going to get her off that couch.
Absolutely nothing.
“I don’t know what happened,” Reese said with a helpless shrug that had his beautiful wife reaching over and absently patting him on the head.
“And you never will,” the woman that had somehow managed to get Mikey to come out of the pantry said with a pitying sigh as he sat there trying to figure out what happened.
One minute, he’d been working and the next…
Everything had gone to hell.
“Sebastian’s grounded,” Kasey said absently as she continued reading her emails, trying to figure out what baking challenge she was going to accept next.
“Which means he should be crawling through our daughter’s bedroom any minute now,” he said with a glare in the direction of his baby girl’s bedroom.
“He came in an hour ago,” his traitorous wife announced on a bored sigh, earning a murderous glare.
“You let him?” he demanded in outrage.
