R.L. Mathewson Chronicles

Baking 101: Part 5

“Are you going to say anything?” Trevor asked, shifting nervously in front of her as she stood there, staring at him in disbelief.

There was no way that he could have said what she thought he’d said, because that would mean that he’d willingly sat back and watched her make a fool out of herself for all these years. He wouldn’t do that. Not the man that she loved.

“Sweetheart?” he said, continuing to shift nervously in front of her, which only made her more suspicious, because if there was one thing that she could say about her husband, besides that fact that he had an unnatural love of food, it was that he didn’t get nervous, about anything.

Mother’ Day 2016

Sighing dreamily, Haley tossed the covers aside and climbed out of bed with a smile. It really was such a beautiful day, she decided with a yawn as she made her way towards the bathroom

For weeks she’d been dreaming of this day, dreaming of sleeping in, enjoying her favorite breakfast in bed and spending the rest of the day being pampered while she watched movies all day on Netflix. It was the perfect way to start what promised to be another exhausting week spent teaching rich, hormonal teenagers and dealing with trying to keep up with four very demanding Bradfords of her very own.

Baking 101: Part IV

“Oh, shit,” Trevor stupidly said before he could stop himself and as soon as his very hormonal and emotional wife broke out in tears, he really wish that he’d chosen his words more carefully.

He also wished that he hadn’t come home in the middle of the day to surprise Zoe with lunch from her favorite restaurant, especially since every counter in the kitchen was covered with what he liked to call, “Experiments.”

“I-I t-tried!” Zoe sobbed as she used the large kitchen apron tied around her to wipe away the tears that didn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon.

“I know,” came the automatic response as he continued to look around the kitchen in horror as he silently sent up a prayer asking to be spared from having to try any of this food.

Baking 101: Part III

“I-I don’t think that I can do this,” Necie whispered harshly as she tightened her arms around her knees, closed her eyes and took a shaky breath while Zoe stood there, chewing on her bottom lip and doing her best to resist the urge to shoot another glance at the smoldering hard white discs sitting on the table behind her that were supposed to be double fudge brownies.

“Can I get you something?” Zoe asked, wondering if she was going to have to call Duncan and tell him that she’d broken his wife.

Baking 101: Part II

She couldn’t lie to save her life, Trevor mused with a smile as the bossy little thing that he loved more than anything held him captive as she gave him a kiss that had him forgetting the reason that he was here and had him thinking about taking his very pregnant wife up against the wall. It didn’t matter that it was physically impossible to do, he wanted her in the worst way and he was damn well going to have her.

At least, that’s what he’d planned on doing before he’d felt one of the babies that she was carrying nudge his arm where it rested against her large belly. It was just what he needed to clear his head and help him focus on what was important…

Finding out what his wife was up to.

Baking 101: Part 1

“Are you sure that you’re okay?” Trevor asked as he wrapped his arms around her from behind and pulled her close so that he could kiss the spot right below her ear, something that he knew would drive her crazy.

“Mmmhmm,” Zoe murmured, because she knew better than to open her mouth while he was kissing her like this. She’d open her mouth to tell him that she was okay, but instead of telling him that, she would end up releasing a moan or a groan that would land her ass in bed all day and ruin the plans that she’d spent the last two weeks making.

“I could call in sick,” he suggested between kisses as his arms tightened around her and he pressed the growing bulge between his legs against her bottom, making it difficult for her to say no, but she didn’t have a choice.

It was now or never.

An Excerpt from Fire and Brimstone…Lucifer’s Story….

Fire & Brimstone

Chapter 1

“You're fired,” Lucifer bit out as he openly glared at the small woman sitting across from him, silently daring her to argue with him, again.

Five goddamn long years he'd been trying to fire the woman staring back at him through deceptively innocent baby blue eyes and every single time she’d somehow managed to get out of it, but not today.

This time she’d gone too far.

“Is this about the uniforms?” Rebecca Shaw, the bane of his existence, asked with a slight frown that only managed to piss him off more.

A Neighbor from Hell Easter

“Mmmm, these brownies are so good,” Trevor said, making sure to add a little groan there at the end just to piss his uncle off more as he sat there, with kids hanging all over him, forcing him to stay where he was and not allowing him to get up and strangle them.

“Delicious,” Jason added as he took a big bite of his brownie and matched Trevor’s groan with one of his own as Uncle Jared sat there, turning an interesting shade of red and looking as though he wanted to hurt them for some odd reason.

Basic Fire Arms Course for Overly Determined Pregnant Women: Part II

Oh, God…

This was so freaking boring, Jamie managed to form that thought as she struggled to keep her eyes open, determined to make it through this class. She wanted to take this class, because…because…

“Tired, sweetheart?” Nick asked with a glare that she was used to by now as he sat next to her, watching as she struggled to make it through this incredibly boring class.

She would make it!

“Please tell me that you’re kidding me,” Nick said, unable to stop staring at the sign that very well might be the premonition of his impending death.

“Thanks for the ride!” his very excited and very pregnant wife said, practically bouncing with joy as she unbuckled her seatbelt and carefully removed the belt over her large stomach, leaned over, planted a big kiss on his stunned cheek, threw open her car door and after several valiant tries, finally managed to get out of the car with her large round stomach leading the way.

Hoping that this was a nightmare, a joke or that she was heading towards the Krispy Kreme donut shop at the end of the strip mall, but he knew that he wasn’t that lucky. A few seconds later he groaned pathetically when he saw his very pregnant wife wobble towards Lucky’s Guns and Training.
